Recruit Sustainment program (RSP) training

What is RSP Training?
Recruitment Sustainment Program (RSP) training is a comprehensive training cycle this is focused on preparing a new non-prior service trainee to successfully complete Basic Combat Training (BCT).  This training will give the new trainee the overall advantage through their training cycles.

The RSP philosophy
(a) To transform Tennessee Army National Guard new non-prior enlistees into duty MOS qualified, high speed, fully trained, mission ready, soldiers.  These soldiers will be prepared to participate and contribute as a full partner in unit training.
(b) Focus for the RSP training.  Instill commitment; develop skill, character and a warrior ethos, devoted to their unit and the Tennessee Army National Guard.
(c) Provide a significant decrease in training pipeline losses.  Maintain accountability of new enlistees.  Return a fully trained and fully qualified soldier to the unit of enlistment and enhance the readiness level of the Tennessee Army National Guard.

Success through Knowledge, Skills and attributes
(a) Knowledge.  Chain of command, orders, Army Values, team work, UCMJ, TNARNG traditions/heritage, discipline, wear /appearance of army uniforms, weapons and equipment familiarization, customs and courtesies, and instill the "YOU CAN" Spirit!
(b) Skills.  Basic rifle marksmanship, first aid, chemical warfare, map orientation, land navigation, camouflage and communication.
(c) Attributes.  Dignity and respect, physically fit, self-esteem, confidence, team spirit, self-discipline, problem solving, and become highly motivation.

Physical training/ weight control (get in shape)
Physical Training (PT) and a routine weigh-in will be an integral part of each drill period to assist the new enlistee in meeting the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) standards and US Army weight control standards. If needed instruction on the principles of fitness and nutrition will be ongoing and designed to educate RSP soldiers on how they can safely plan and conduct their own physical training programs out of RSP drill weekends.
